About CSOM

The Safer Society Foundation, Inc.

The Safer Society Foundation is a nonprofit agency specializing in the assessment and treatment of sexual abusers and sexual abuse prevention. The range of services provided by Safer Society includes:

  • Professionals, Organizations, and Private Citizens Attempting to Prevent Sexual Abuse or Influence Treatment and Prevention in Their Communities. The Safer Society Foundation receives requests from grass roots organizations, concerned citizens, professionals, and representatives of the criminal justice community who have concerns about sexual abuse in their communities and need information that will assist them in decisions or actions regarding assessment, treatment, and prevention of sexual abuse.

  • Referrals to Treatment. A trained referral specialist responds, at no charge, to abusers, treatment programs and providers, corrections personnel, and family members who are seeking treatment, evaluations, and assessments for sexually reactive children, adolescents, and adult sexual abusers.

  • Survey of Treatment Providers. This survey is updated and published periodically, and is constantly evolving to reflect changing trends in the field of sexual abuser treatment.

  • Providing Research Materials. The Safer Society library is estimated to include 5,000 references. Publications deal primarily with the prevention of sexual abuse and the treatment of sexual abusers, but also address child abuse, victims' issues, and domestic violence.

  • Non-Profit Publisher. The Safer Society publishes relevant research, studies, video and audio tapes, and books that focus upon the development of sexual abuse treatment for children, juveniles, and adults; sexual abuse prevention; emerging topics; new initiatives in the field; and self-help materials for victims and abusers.

  • Training and Consultation. The Safer Society Foundation will assist individuals, agencies, states, and organizations to identify trainers and training resources; and to develop specialized training institutes on current and emerging topics related to sexual abuse prevention and treatment.
