
Providing Access to the Most Current Information Through CSOM's Information Exchange
The Information Exchange represents CSOM's effort to provide useful, current, and accessible information to the field. The Information Exchange develops and distributes policy and practice briefs on pressing issues; operates this web-site; and compiles and makes available information collected from local and state agencies around the country.
Objectives of the Information Exchange
- To respond to the field's need for current, readily available, practical information, including current resource materials and referrals to other organizations who can provide assistance to practitioners.
- To collect and synthesize information on sex offender management strategies from jurisdictions across the nation.
- To share that information with others and use it to shape future CSOM technical assistance efforts.
The Activities of the Information Exchange
- The development and distribution of "Policy and Practice Briefs" on pressing issues.
- The establishment and management of a mailing list that provides quarterly updates on new CSOM activities and publications.
- The establishment and management of this web site.
- The establishment of a network of existing agencies around the country who are prepared to accept telephone inquires from the field.
- The compilation and distribution of information collected from local and state agencies around the country.
Several national organizations have agreed to join CSOM in providing assistance to those in the field who are seeking information about the effective management of sex offenders who are in the community. Those agencies include the American Probation and Parole Association (APPA), the National Institute of Corrections (NIC) Information Center, and the National Criminal Justice Reference Service (NCJRS).
