Preparation
In planning for community notification, corrections and law enforcement officials should identify individuals whom may be negatively affected and develop strategies to reduce either the potential for, or the fear of, these negative impacts, without interfering with the notification. Notifying family members, landlords, victims, and employers before conducting a notification allows these individuals time to prepare and deal with the disclosure.
