An Overview of Sex Offender Treatment for a Non-Clinical Audience

The CSOM Training Curriculum: Overview of Sex Offender Treatment for a Non-Clinical Audience is now available on CD-ROM. The goals of the curriculum are to:

  • Provide an overview of sex offender-specific treatment, and outline its characteristics, particularly the ways in which it differs from traditional mental health treatment;
  • Emphasize its primary goal of community protection;
  • Summarize what we know of practice patterns nationwide;
  • Summarize the research on the outcomes of treatment (i.e., what we know of its effectiveness); and
  • Identify ways in which probation and parole officers can successfully work together with treatment providers in managing sex offenders in the community.

To obtain a copy of the curriculum on CD-ROM, please contact Rachel West at rwest@cepp.com or (301) 589-9383. The curriculum will also be available in a Web-based format in the coming months at this location on the CSOM Web site.
